Dear LTIS Parent/Caregiver,

Subject: Remote Learning

Welcome to week two. We are hoping you are getting more comfortable with the process of your child learning from home. On our end, we are working to improve the process to make it more efficient and effective for you and your child to ensure that the learning continues.

Since your child is on a computer more hours in the day than normal, let’s talk about computer etiquette. Behaviour management  in a classroom happens very quickly and usually very seamlessly because verbal and non-verbal cues are communicated instantly. In a remote classroom where these cues can’t be communicated, even a minor misbehavior can significantly slow down a lesson. If you wouldn’t mind reminding your child of this, it would be appreciated.

Another area to be aware of is when the teacher logs out of their google classroom, he/she is no longer supervising the class. The classroom stays open until everyone has logged out. This would be a good opportunity for your child to socialize with classmates, but just to realize that there is no staff supervision once the teacher has logged out.

Wishing you a wonderful week.
