Dear LTIS Parent/Caregiver,

We’ve rolled into May. The staff at LTIS feel like the time has gone by very slowly since last having the students in the building. The transition to remote learning has gone as well as can be expected; of course, remote learning is not quite the same as being on site. Here’s hoping that we see the kids in the school soon enough.

By this time you will have gone through many challenges with our current learning format. On top of everything else that has changed, you’ve also become a teacher. Our staff would like to thank you wholeheartedly for the work you’ve done to ensure that your child continues to get an education.

Hopefully you, your child and the teacher have established a routine for the daily learning and that you are much more efficient than you were four weeks ago. From the school’s end, teachers have adapted well to the circumstances and they continue to refine the lesson delivery and assessment. In the meantime, we have increased our supports for students and families in the following ways:

We have a homework hotline called EA Assistance. You can find the link on our website home page, please see the scrolling banner for more information.

For anyone needing mental wellness support, please go to our website home page and click on the banner sheet photo for more information.

Families (any Athabasca families) struggling with making ends meet and who would like food support, we are offering food hampers. Please call the school (780.675.2213) or look on our FB page for when you can pick up a hamper.

Please accept our warmest regards,

Joe MacIsaac, Principal
ShonaHunter, Assistant Principal
