 Dear LTIS Parent/Caregiver,

Last week we had an assembly where we took some time to talk about some of the learner attributes that will help your child to succeed at school. You will often hear teachers refer to student learner attributes, as they are characteristics and skills determined to be essential to learning and key determinants to success at school and in life. Here are some of the most important learner attributes:

  • organizational skills
  • classwork and homework completion
  • attentiveness
  • the ability and willingness to follow directions
  • the ability and willingness to work hard in class
  • willingness to persevere and to troubleshoot problems

At the assembly, we focused mainly on organizational skills such as maintaining an orderly working space, keeping your notes, worksheets and documents in their correct places in binders and duotangs. It would be good idea to follow this up with your child by stopping in after hours to go through his/her locker and desk, or by having your child bring all his/her binders home to be re-set and organized chronologically. Generally speaking, an organized child has a greater chance to succeed, and wastes less time, than a child without these skills.

In the upcoming weeks, many notable activities are happening at LTIS. Below is a list of a few:

  • March 4 - Aspen View Cross Country Skiing Championship at LTIS
  • Chess club every Monday
  • Sign Language Club every Friday
  • March 17 – School Council Meeting
  • March 23-27  - Spring Break

As always, if at any time you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at the school.
