The LTIS Early Morning Reading Program is back!!! We are once again embarking on another year of learning and growth in our students' reading levels.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning from 8:00-8:30, we will be working on reading strategies for students from grades 5 to 6 who are reading below grade level. This short, intensive work has proven invaluable for raising the reading levels of all students who are dedicated to the program.

Location? LTIS Library

How does it work? Students are grouped according to their reading level as determined by their last year's teacher. The groups usually consist of 3 or 4 students with one teacher. Each group is given a short story (fiction/non-fiction) and students take turns reading aloud. As they progress through the story, reading strategies are reviewed by the teacher. Once the students feel confident with understanding the content material, they complete a short comprehension quiz. All results are tracked.
